While the basic structure of a man’s skin is same as a woman’s, there are some small differences in the way each skin behaves. Some of the key differences are:
1) A man’s skin is thicker, firmer and more resilient: A man’s skin contains more elastin and collagen, the connective tissues that makes his skin more firm and elastic.
2) A man’s skin has larger pores: Men have larger pores that are more likely to become clogged with dirt and oil.
3) A man’s skin is oilier: Not only does a man’s skin produce up to 20% more oil – it continues to produces oil until much later in life. (Men’s skin will usually continue producing oil right up to the age of 40 or 50 – whereas a woman’s skin usually decreases oil production much earlier).
4) A man’s skin ages differently: Men have an advantage in the aging game – their skin is thicker and oilier which makes them less prone to wrinkles.
5) Men shave their faces: The hair on a man’s face can be thick and shaving can stress skin a lot. Shaving can leave men’s skin sensitive, dehydrated, irritated and exposed. In addition, men’s faces are also more susceptible to nicks, irritation and ingrown hairs.

Selecting the right perfume and fragrance has become even more difficult as the perfume market is flooded numerous brands and perfumes. While visiting a cosmetic store, a customer often gets confused about what could be the right one for him/her. However, there are some guidelines if followed can help those confused customers remove their doubts and select the right perfume for them.
They are as follows:
Skin: Try different perfumes and fragrances to know what perfume suits your skin the best. All perfumes are different in fragrance, flavor and smell. Hence what suits the most, may not necessarily suit you. Do not just blindly follow the branded perfumes. It really pays to try different perfumes before you settle for one.
Smell: Always go for a perfume that contains fresh smells and makes you attractive and impressive. Have your best friend (preferably female) give his/her views on the particular perfume you are trying. Often, it is the other person who can tell you what goes right with you.
Ingredients and Flavors: Perfumes can be selected using different ingredients and flavors. They are different categories of perfumes such as woody perfume, fruit perfume, floral perfume, oceanic perfume, greens perfume and oriental perfume. Usually, each of these fragrances is suitable for a male or female depending on their personal preference. However, you can always go for one that best suits your personality and life-style.
Climate and Season: While choosing a perfume, one should consider the climate and season. What goes best in the winter may not be even good enough in the summer. Hence, it is extremely important to choose the perfume that does justice to the climate and to your skin.
Moreover, perfumes should be selected as per the occasions and festivals too. For instance, a particular perfume may be just perfect for a birthday party you are attending, but when it comes to a boardroom meeting you have choose a different one.

Myths about the factors that cause acne are quite widespread and confuse a lot of people.
Today, we will discuss some prevailing myths and bust them forever!
1. Acne is caused by sexual activity: When teenagers reach puberty, their body undergoes lot of hormonal changes. These changes lead to the development of sexual features as well as acne in many cases. Hormonal changes and not sexual activity cause Acne.
2. Cosmetics make Acne worse: Though, many creams and lotions with high oil content and chemicals can aggravate acne conditions, many cosmetic products are safe and in fact help in containing acne. Cosmetics that do not aggravate acne or lead to development of comedones are labelled “non-acnegenic” and “non-comedogenic” respectively.
3. Acne is caused by dirty skin: Many people who suffer from acne clean & scrub their skin excessively which can make acne worse. Over active oil glands cause acne and when you over-wash your skin, the skin gets dry. To counterbalance this oil glands secret more oil which causes more acne. You should gently wash your face twice a day with a mild soap and then pat dry.
4. Acne needs no care; it will go away on its own: This patently untrue. Though acne generally does subside on its own, it may leave permanent scars. There are many treatments available which can control acne and help to keep away those scars. Talk to your dermatologist about which ones are right for you.
5. Only teenagers get acne: One can get acne at any age. Even babies, adults in the age range of 25-44 can suffer from acne. Many adult women have acne because of the constant fluctuation of their hormones during each menstrual cycle. Some medications, like birth control pills, as well as being pregnant can also contribute to adult acne.
6. Picking or squeezing a pimple is the best way to get rid of it: Squeezing or picking can damage the cells under your skin and cause the pimple to be inflamed or leave a permanent scar. As tempting as it is, you will be better off in the long run to leave them alone and let them heal on their own.
